Subject: [*] Application Commander v1.1.0

Application Commander is an utility that takes advantage of Apple's
Speech Recognition System in conjunction with the Application Switching
Manager to enable you to control and manage your running applications by
speaking some simple commands.

The Application Switching Manager is a public interface that several
third party utilities support. It is currently support by ClaireWare
Software's Program Switcher and Binary Software's PowerSwitch. For more
information on these programs, please visit one of the following web
pages:

     http://www.kamprath.net/claireware/program_switcher.html
     http://www.binarysoft.com/psmac/psmac.html

What is required?
Application Commander requires the following:

Apple's Speech Recognition System v1.5 or later (comes with MacOS
8.5)
     PowerPC processor
Program Switcher v4.4.0 or PowerSwitch v1.0.0 or later
     MacOS 8.0 or later

How do I use it?
All you need to do is enable the Speech Recognition Manager in the Speech
control panel and then launch Application Commander. Application
Commander is a "background only application," so there are no options or
other user interface to mess with. To cause Application Commander to do
something, all you have to do is say a command that Application Commander
recognizes and it will act on that command. Application Commander
recognizes the following commands:

     Switch to the Finder
     Switch to the Last Application
     Switch to <running application name>
     Hide Other Applications
     Hide the Current Application
Hide All Applications but the Finder
     Show All Applications
     Quit All Applications
     Quit All Other Applications
     Quit Application Commander
     Launch <item in launch folder>

Most commands should be self explanatory. The "Switch to <running
application name>" means that you say "Switch to" and the name of a
running application and Application Commander will take you to it.

The "Launch <item in launch folder>" command will launch/open any item in

CCalendar Converter is a utility for conversion between often used
calendars. In this version (1.10), it supports the conversion between
Gregorian, Julian, Sinic (a.k.a. Chinese, as PRC insists), ISO, Islamic,
and Hebrew calendars. Many festivals are also supported so that you can
easily find when is Easter, Orthodox Easter, Chinese New Year, Hanukkah,
and Ramaden. You can also find the sunrise/sunset time and the moon
phase in the city where you live.

V1.1 added a calendar window so that you can have an overview of the
whole month. The holidays in the month are shown in a different color.
By placing the cursor on the calendar cell, the holiday information will
be shown in a balloon. You can also edit holiday file(s) to place
holidays in your country and other important dates of your own.

V1.1 also added the ephemeris of the sun, the moon, and the nine
planets. You can easily find in which zodiac sign is Venus.

(and sent an older version of it SEVERAL weeks ago) but didn't receive

list to categories like "Text", "Networks" or "Sounds".
Click on the list and go right to the CPanel you need !
You can also use it to create semi-automated files which can

Subject: [*] HypnOptic Savescreen System 2.0

The mad, acid, savescreen of your choice, is here againg! HypnOptic becomes
HypnOptic Savescreen System, a modular and customizable package that,
better than before, will drive you crazy.
The HypnOptic INIT automates the savescreen starting and the HypnOptic
Control lets you select your favoured module, the idle time and decide
whether the module should play sounds. Furthermore the Control accepts, as
module, any kind of file so it may launch, after the inactivity time, the
file you want: different savescreen applications, disk defragmentation
utilities, the letter you're writing, since one year, to your sweetheart
and so on.
Modules are stand-alone applications so, if you want, you may use them also
without the Control-INIT aid (just like the old HypnOptic), moreover any
module is able to play sounds asynchronously.
Besides INIT and Control, the HypnOptic Savescreen System package contains
four modules:
* HypnOptic Classic, the first, original version of the savescreen
responsible for, always living, HypnOpticmania.
* HypnOptic Standard, based on Classic version with some additional graphic
element. It may, casually, use RGB Colors and patterns, in addition to
Classic QuickDraw.
* OloPpat, it use patterns for creating a simple, but nice, savescreen.
* Sixties, a totally new savescreen with a psychedelic feeling...
Last, but not least, you may find inside the package a SDK for developing
your own savescreen application. The SDK project lets you concentrate only
on the creative part of developing: the main, and more tedious, part of
work is already done. Even if you're a inexperienced programmer you may
easily build your own HypnOptic, stand-alone, module. The SDK contains also
a fifth savescreen: HOSDK.
HypnOptic Control is Internet Config and Navigation Manager aware, moreover
it's Appearance savvy.

Kaleidoscope 2.1.2 -- Shareware $25
by Greg Landweber and Arlo Rose

Italian Version

Kaleidoscope is the ultimate in user interface customization, letting
you switch between completely different designs provided by plug-in
files called "Schemes". Kaleidoscope comes with eight schemes,
including the Mac OS 8, System 7, and Be OS interfaces, as well as
five radically new designs
by Arlo Rose, formerly of Apple's Human Interface Design Center.
There are also several thousand third party schemes available on the
Kaleidoscope Scheme Archive and elsewhere.

Kaleidoscope 2.1.2 offers many improvements and resolves various
conflicts. It works better with the latest applications that take
full advantage of the Mac OS 8.5 Appearance Manager, such as MT- or
YA-NewsWatcher and Transmit. In particular, Internet Explorer 4.5
looks especially good now with Kaleidoscope running. Menus with
complex patterns should draw faster, too. In addition, version 2.1.2
fixes problems with the new Blue & White G3's, StuffIt SpaceSaver,
FaxSTF, Extensions Manager, AppleWorks, Internet Explorer, Action
Files, SmartScroll, AliasMenu, Palm Desktop, DeskScan, Bias Peak, and
Claris Impact.

MacRAR is a RAR archiver for the Macintosh (RAR is a common compression

MacBinary III).

MacRAR uses a modern Mac interface (Appearance Manager, Navigation

(newer than Mac SE) or System (greater than 7.0).

The RAR implementation (i.e. MacRAR) is a freeware, however it uses RAR

What is it?

MIMEconvert was written to help me deal with processing web-based form data
sent via e-mail.

As you may know, the files get sent with certain special characters hex
encoded. As well some MIME encoding takes place frequently meaning that
spaces will be represented as a "+" and fields or form elements will be
separated with an "&".

It makes using email forms on a web site a bit of a pain in the butt.

=46or example:

=46ield=3DZac+Belado&Field4=3Dzac@pixelgeek.com&Selection=3DIsabella%27s+Chr=

would look much nicer as:

=46ield=3DZac Belado
=46ield4=3Dzac@pixelgeek.com
Selection=3DIsabella's Christmas Tree
Submit=3DSubmit

or even nicer as a single line of tab delineated text without the final,
useless, submit field such as:

Mini Conversion -- a small utility, which can manipulate file Type and Creator

In simple terms, Type and Creator signitures are the codes by which the Mac OS
associates files with applications. They also effect the icon which a file
displays on the desktop. It can be useful to be able to change these if you, for
example, have a bunch of text files which you saved while surfing the World Wide
Web. The trouble is that you don't want to have to open them opening in your web
browser every time you double click them - you want to open them with a great
text editor like BBEdit, so you change the files type and creator codes so that
when you double click on your text files they open straight into BBEdit. You're
not changing anything about the actual file, just what program the Finder thinks
they were made with. Mini Conversion is also compact so that you can leave it
running in the corner of your monitor while you work :) Batch conversion - drop
folders onto Mini Conversion to convert the contents.
